There are a variety of vocal music opportunities for Choir students at Blair Oaks Middle School.

6th, 7th, and 8th Grade General Music Classes

At Blair Oaks, we offer General Music classes for 6th, 7th, and 8th graders.  These classes meet every other day for the entire school year. The Music Department at Blair Oaks strives to develop a student’s appreciation of the Fine Arts and educate the whole student.  The intent of the course is to provide a worthwhile musical experience for students, regardless of individual skill or talent level. Emphasis is placed on developing an appreciation of all genres of music. Students will be provided instruction in music appreciation, theory, and history. 

6th Grade Choir

At Blair Oaks, we offer a 6th Grade Choir made up of unchanged voices with mixed genders.  The choir sings primarily 2-part music but may split to 3-part.  The class meets every other day for the entire school year.  The Choir performs at the Fall Concert, Winter Concert, and Spring Concert.  They may also perform at other events if the opportunity arises. The Vocal Music department at Blair Oaks will strive to develop a student’s appreciation of the Fine Arts and educate the whole musician. Students will be encouraged to work toward the mastery of fundamental skills individually and within a performance ensemble.

7th/8th Grade Falcon Chorale

At Blair Oaks, we offer a 7th/8th grade Choir made up of changed and unchanged voices of mixed genders.  The Choir sings primarily 3-part music of many different genres.  The class meets daily for the entire year.  The Choir performs at the Fall Concert, Winter Concert, Spring Concert, and also sings the National Anthem at selected sporting events.  They may also perform at other events if the opportunity arises.  The Vocal Music department at Blair Oaks will strive to develop a student’s appreciation of the Fine Arts and educate the whole musician. Students will be encouraged to work toward the mastery of fundamental skills individually and within a performance ensemble.
