School Resource Officers

The Cole County Sherriff's Department in conjunction with the Blair Oaks R-II School District provides a School Resource Officer to assist school officials in creating a safe environment. The School Resource Officer is available as a resource for parents, students, and faculty.

There are five main purposes of the school resource officer at Blair Oaks School District:

1.     Instructor
2.    Consultant
3.    Crisis Intervention
4.    Community Relations
5.    Protection

As often as possible, the School Resource Officer will be on site as a visible presence, to make presentations, to advise and counsel, and to support the school and its community.

Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) is administered by a school resource officer to 5th grade students. The program typically begins in January with graduation toward the end of the year. Look in the Intermediate School newsletter for program announcements.
